I've got a large can of lump crab meat, chilling in the fridge as we speak. I want to make a dip tonight for tomorrow's football game tailgate.

I've done the cream cheese/cocktail sauce/flaked crab meat on top layered dip before - Any other good suggestions? I'd like to do something that isn't horribly fattening. Spicy is good!

I was going to suggest this.

You can also make crab salad (light or ff miracle whip, minced celery, minced green onions, I put chopped tomatoes and juienned carrots in mine). I've also added a touch of tabasco before. Serve it with mini croissants (in your grocers bakery) or Club crackers.

I have a hot crab dip recipe at home that's much better....and it's pretty easy. My neighbors all love it. If you want it I can probably surf at Cooking Light and dig it up for you.

I found it in case you want it, it looks complicated but it really isn't and it is SO GOOD!

Hot Crab Dip
From Cooking Light

3/4 cup nonfat sour cream
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon grated fresh onion
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 (8-ounce) tub reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese
1 pound lump crabmeat, shell pieces removed
Vegetable cooking spray
Paprika

Combine the first 7 ingredients in a bowl; stir well with a wire whisk. Stir in cheddar cheese and crabmeat.
Spoon the crabmeat mixture into a 1 1/2-quart casserole coated with cooking spray, and sprinkle with paprika. Bake at 325° for 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Serve warm with crackers.

** you can sub a little dijon for the dry mustard if you don't have any but just a touch. We like this with Triscuits.

I ended up doing a variation of this from a different recipe I found on the Net. - Whipped together Cream Cheese, Sour Cream, Lemon Juice, Chili Sauce, Horseradish Sauce into a creamy cold mixture - then folded in the drained can of lump crab meat. Plan to serve with crackers tomorrow.

It is pretty tasty! I hope the ladies are impressed at my Betty Crocker efforts! Wink
