must be on valium. Wink
Kudos to all of you that coach kids.
Little Poky is playing soccer.... well actually that would be chasing after a ball, falling on the ground, staring at the sky, dribbling the ball 20 yards out of bounds, running back without the ball, going back to get the ball, falling on the ground again, staring at the sky, repeat.......

I don't know how you coaches do it. thumbs up

Yeah, teaching soccer during PE is not much fun.

It's just a mad dash to the ball.

Positions? There are positions?

Who gets to kick the ball? That's what I'm gonna do.

Get it all on tape if you can!
This is really a cute time when kids play sports.

It'll be fun to look back and see how Little Poky improves with her game as she gets older.

I never coached soccer but tee-ball and coach pitch baseball was a laugh a minute with the 5-7 yr olds. I had a blast doing it. A flyball to the outfield was similar to the bee swarm effect RR described. Everybody circle it, nobody catch it and then lets all fight over who picks up and wings it over the 3rd basemans head.....

LOL

I refer to it as "amoeba ball". My 7 yo's team starts practice in 90 minutes, and they're only marginally better. Neutral

My favorite part was watching the goalie. Sometimes it was my son, but invariably the behavior was universal.

Be vigilant=about 5 seconds.
Oooh, daisies. No, dandelions.
Blow the dandelions and watch them disperse.
Lay down in the grass.
Climb onto the net
Hang on bar.
Get told to get down
Go back to being vigilant=5 seconds
Ooooh more dandelions.
Blow the dandelions watching them disperse.
Lay down in the grass.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I am coaching Jason's team again this spring and I don't know why I do it. I enjoy helping out but boy can it be a riot to see what some of the boys do. Sometimes they go in the wrong direction, they fight each other for the ball and I have a couple that run harder after the ball is out of bounds so they can pick it up and carry it back.

I have had several parents ask me how I do it and I am afraid to tell them a few cold beers after practice and the games works wonders. Mr. Green

If the coach of your team is doing it solo please volunteer to help corral the cats. It is tough to instruct when you can only keep their attention for about 39 seconds. I figure if I can get them to go in the right direction and not touch the ball with their hands I have done my job! On to game 4 this weekend.
