I'm cleaning the basement, the finished, liveable side and the storage areas, both. I'm thinking of having a little garage sale before school starts. I'm not sure it's worth the hassle though. Lots and lots of kids stuff and miscellaneous (sp?) household doodads.
I don't go to many garage sales, only if they are within a street or two of my house. I don't even know how to price stuff.
Hmm. What say you... garage sale or no?

We're too lazy to have a garage sale so we donate it all to charity and take the tax write-off instead.

i think itd be way too big a headache, especially right before school starts...im with PH, donate it to a charity. we usually donate all of our "junk" to the american kidney foundation. they take all kinds of stuff (household appliances and lawnmowers too) as long as its in decent shape. and the best part is you just have to leave it outside your front door, they come and pick it up!

Have the garage sale. You wouldn't believe what people will buy. Just slap any old price on your item, they usually haggle with you anyway. Then what you don't sell donate. And you have less crap to haul in. That's what we do.

if you have the time and patience, i'd have the garage sale.
i think i did that once with neighbors in NC.
i'm far too lazy and have far too frequent urges to purge to have garage sales now. i just give it to Goodwill, or my church frequently has collections for stuff. i keep a list and hand it to the tax man for the deduction. garage sales are alot of work.
this is timely cuz i think Keltic may have just had a garage sale.....Keltic????

I say yes especially if there are too many unnecessary things around the house. We are also planning a garage sale later this month to get rid of a bunch of extra items.

We only had a few when I was younger as part of a big community garage sale. There would be like two streets full of them.
Someone tried to buy our cat right off the driveway.
And if you say it starts at 7am, people will knock on your door at 6:30 to try to get the good stuff first.
But, it's fun for kids. My parents used to let us keep the money because they were so glad to be rid of all the junk and we did all the hard work. If you have a lot of good stuff - furniture, electronics, clothes, books... those things sell. Also puzzles... people always want puzzles...
