How much do you Dad's help out???
In our family my dad got the tree up and got the lights on, then it was up to Mom and us kids to do the rest. So I have conviently adopted the same tradition.

We put up the tree and do the decorations together. LC usually gets a few more of the ornaments on, and I do a little more so far as stringing the lights.

Traditionally my dad always put the tree in the stand and put lights on it. The rest of the family decorated. This year the tree in my home will be a joint venture between my sister, myself, and most likely our SOs. Should be interesting.

I usually put the lights up around the windows
The kids and spouse hang up the decorations, put out the manger, etc
The tree is a group project

mr puts the tree up and hangs the lights on it.
then, the kids and i take over which usually translates into my finishing the job.
does anyone else feel that their ornament collection is equivalent to THEIR LIFE IN A BOX? some really old stuff in there, really good memories too. i've been giving each kid an ornament on tree-up day for the last 10 years or so, it's really neat to look at those and wonder why i picked that one for that year.....

Cut tree, haul tree to truck, pay for tree, unload tree, shorten tree, haul tree in, straighten in stand, move dad's recliner to make room, haul boxes of decorations from basement, put on tree lights, garland and everything above the 5' level, angel at top.
1-mo later, do most of decoration take-down, garland off, lights off, rubik's cube challenge to get everything in boxes and then back down to the basement, toss tree out the door, vacuum infinite supply of spruce needles, move cherished recliner back to space of honor, load tree in truck, drive to Wobegon fairgrounds, toss tree on massive pile of dead evergreens, return later in week to watch shredder equipment /tim allen grunt/

Too bad they don't burn them. That would be one enormous yet short-burning bonfire.
