The ABC Family channel is playing some old favorites all month long. I watched Rudolph & Frosty's Christmas in July last night and Jack Frost the night before. I loved watching them when I was a young kid. They have a schedule posted with the times different ones are on. www.abcfamily.com They are playing different ones all day on Saturday!!!

Roger that.
Not being a "serious" movie, Darren McGavin didn't stand a chance but his performance was outstanding - Oscar caliber.
How can you tell that you've watched the movie way too many times? If a package is delivered to your door, do you find yourself claiming that it's a major award? Do you pronouce "fragile" as fra-GEE-lay? Did you ever have a teacher like Miss Shields? Ever experience soap poisoning? Come to realize that getting the DVD of the movie was a bad thing, especially when you can't stop quoting lines with the characters, even if you hear the "I'll throw that thing away" threat? Do you hear "Jingle Bells" and imagine it being done with a Chinese accent?
Oh, fuuuuuuuuuuudge.

I liked Rudolph.
I don't know about you, but those specials were extra "special" to me.
We only got to see cartoons on Saturday mornings, so any other time was huge in my house. I remember talking about it at school.
Nowadays, kids have Cartoon Network, Nick, PBS, Disney Channel, and everything under the sun that has cartoons. I practically get when I get excited about Rudolph coming on. I guess it's not sophisticated enough for their tastes.

--A Christmas Story, definite must see....several times!
--It's a Wonderful Life.....sad they don't play it many many times any more. I think maybe we'll rent it this year and make an evening of it.
--Santa Claus is Coming to Town...."Put one foot in front of the other!" Love that song!
--Love that Heat Miser, too! When Hayden gets out of the bath and his hair is wild that's what we call him sometimes!!!

We've been watching them too. I love those specials. Reminds me of being a kid.
Libby loves A Christmas Story. We watched that the other night.

Are you my father??? Year round he does this. Double dog dares me to stick my tongue on the freezer door, calls the neighbors the Bumpuses, answers the phone "Herro!", He even discusses the piquant yet mild after dinner flavor of palmolive soap....
Apparently that movie was a little TOO reminiscent of his life growing up as the oldest of two boys in the 40s and 50s....
Since I've seen "A Christmas Story" 37 times a year since probably the mid 80s, its a given, so I'll say my favorite of all time is "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I LOVE it.

Well, I didn't grow up in the 40's....I have clear memories of the coal furnace but never heard, "It's a clinker!" No one was dared (double dared, double dog dared, triple dared, triple dog dared - no etiquette failure here) to stick their tongues on flag poles. It was the railroad track for us. Palmolive, as in Lifebouy? I'm a Lux man, myself.
"Randy lay there like a slug. It was his only defense."

Well, first,
Second, don't you remember as he's going into the bathroom get the Lifebuoy punishment, he discusses the flavors/merits of all the various soaps?
