So, we've picked our favorite tacky/unusual/non-mainstream songs, what's your favorite traditional/classic song?
Mine, undoubtedly The Little Drummer Boy. No matter who sings it, it always makes me
Genie = big time sap at Christmas
Et vous?

Me too! I absolutely love The Little Drummer Boy. It is by far my all0time favorite Christmas song. And it makes me cry, too.
I also love O' Holy Night.

it's taken 33 years, but i do believe i've got it!

"Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence" and "Lo, A Rose Ever Blooming" (I think those are the titles).
Handel's Messiah is pretty good too - we did our first "do it yourself" version last year.

There's also one called Posada by Santana that I absolutely love. It's essentially The Little Drummer Boy without lyrics. I just hate that it's on a CD with a Britney Spears song.

I have a lot of Favorites, but this one can bring a tear:
How far is it to Bethlehem? Not very far.
Shall we find the stable room lit by a star?
Can we see the little child, is he within?
If we lift the wooden latch may we go in?
May we stroke the creatures there, ox, ass, or sheep?
May we peep like them and see Jesus asleep?
If we touch his tiny hand, will he awake?
Will he know we've come so far just for his sake?
Great kings have precious gifts, and we have naught,
little smiles and little tears are all we brought.
For all weary children Mary must weep,
then here, on his bed of straw sleep, children, sleep.

Me too. I do like O Holy Night, that was one of my faves in high school choir.
Being Eye-talian, I am also partial to Ave Maria.....

Henry the 8th wrote the music for that.
Also, Twelve Days of Christmas is very old, like 1300s or so from France.
