I remember going to E.T. with my brother and cousin. At the end, I was so happy he was alive and well, that I started 'happy crying'. Everyone gave me odd looks on the way out.
I also remember going to the Big Sky drive-in with my parents every few weeks for the old black and white westerns with no sound. That was fun, I think.

Definitely watching The Wizard of Oz every year.
Grease at the drive-in.
Catching the part in Fame (video I guess, back when you rented those?) where Coco takes her shirt off? Step-dad turned it off at that point.
Finally seeing the R version of Saturday Night Fever and seeing why Mom & Dad wouldn't let me watch that one... I think I was 30 when I saw the R version, incidentally.
My cousin Tim standing up in the theater when Bambi was on, shouting "Your mother is dead, Bambi!!"
Love for Helen Reddy after I saw Pete's Dragon (I am woman, hear me roar!)
Seeing Legal Eagles with Mom at the theater. I still love that movie. And Robert Redford.
That song they play on HBO, before movies... I remember seeing Star Wars on HBO those years ago, and that song played, so now everytime I hear it, I think of Star Wars.

I was 10 when I read it. It was the first adult book I ever read. I had a tough time picking up another one. I thought they were ALL horrors. Little did I know being an adult is one big horror film.
Where the Red Fern Grows made me cry in 5th grade math class. The Fox and the Hound is one of the first movies I remember seeing in the run down theatre on main street in Coweta. It's still one of my favorites.
"Hi. My name's Copper. I"m a hounddog. OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" I still do that. My girlie laughs.

The animated version of the Hobbit (late 70s?). I was scared to death of gollum. I remember having bad dreams about it.

That was a good one too. I can't believe they stopped producing it.

Disney caved in to pressure because some groups felt the movie was racist. AFAIK, It is still available overseas.

Yep. Actually, many groups.
Roger Ebert wrote recently, "Disney has made a corporate decision to hold "Song of the South" from release because of its stereotyping of some of the African-American characters, and I have expressed sympathy with that position because the film is directed primarily toward children who see films literally. I would not want to be an African-American child at a screening of the film, but I would support its screening for mature audiences."

Oh yes, you can beat that. Having the hood of a car smash into the windshield of a car being driven by priests was pretty damning.
