Well, it is finished! The Cappy recap: Trisha (the girl I was pacing) and I both did a 3:47.
Ok. Now the long one. I left home a few hours late on Saturday. I ended up driving to Purdue and joining the Purdue Running Club for their drive up. We got to the expo and met up with two other Running Club guys. We hung out at the expo for a short time and then headed up to the house we were staying at. My vehicle was the only one of the five with directions. 3 of the 5 had cell phones. We made it all of the way out of downtown and were doing very well (or so we thought). As we turn off on our exit, we notice one of the 5 (also one that did not have a cell), was not with us anymore. We decided we couldn't do anything about it so we headed to the house. We were hoping that the car that got lost could track down a phone number and contact us. About 2 hours after stopping, he did contact us and we got him to the house.
When we got to the race site in the morning, it was a comfortable temperature (54 I think). We got into our designated corrals (except for me where I lined up one corral back) and waited for the start. As we were standing around, I looked at my HRM, and noticed 37bpm. Not believing it, I took my pulse and it was indeed around the very low 40's! I must have been very calm and prepared for the race. The race was started and Trisha and I took off. Our first mile was a 8:59. This was also our slowest! Throughout the race, we are taking the splits for every mile. She's calling them off and they are all 8:40-8:50! I'm thinking the entire time that this was too good to be true! She's doing her first marathon and we are holding a steady pace! We hit the 13.1 mark in 1:53:34. After the half, we kept averaging the 8:40's. We were doing very well at 21 where we saw our friends in the crowd. This gave Trisha a boost for about a mile. Then she started struggling around 22. I kept talking to her and we got through it. She only stopped running at the water stations (our planned walks). I was proud of how she was able to run through the wall and keep going. We got to the finish line and finished strong. She was extremly happy and I think the marathon bug may have bit her now. Her family was there and was really excited about how she finished and how well she looked coming up to the finish. Oh, our second half was a 1:54:01. So our two halfs were only different by 30 seconds!
As for me, I feel great. I felt strong all of the way through the finish line (I did let Trisha beat me though). After the finish, I had some blood pressure problems (see the health topics for this story). But after the massage, I felt great.
I never did meet up with the RunningForums gang. I did get to talk to Cheryl on the phone after the race. She was feeling good about her race (a little over 5 hrs). Cheryl and Poky had signs up just past mile 23 (My guess is they were from gretriever). Cheryl didn't see them, but I'm sure she was glad to hear there were signs up for them.
Well, I think that's about it. The race was fun and exciting. I can't wait for my next.

Good Job Koby!
I actually thought of you Sunday morning wondering how the weather was and how the head winds treated you?
I can't wait to hear the reports from Poky and Cheryl.

WOO HOO!!! Way to go Koby and Trisha!!!! It's so nice to see someone pace another runner and not worry so much about their own time once in a while--that's the true spirit of running, not all the competitive stuff (sorry jj )
You rock buddy!
