Posted: 09/16/04 - 11:30 Post subject: Car shopping tomorrow!
Called Carmax, got my loan approval, just need to go tomorrow and find my new car. Used, but new to me.
Looking at SUVs, have a particular Ford Explorer I will test drive for sure, maybe look at a few others while I'm there.
My Jeep has 98k miles on it and has a few issues, particularly the 2 door thing which drives me crazy with the growing children. Not looking for a hugely expensive vehicle (and John is helping, incidentally) but something more reliable and I will feel safer in...
Wish me luck. I'm way excited.
Oh, here's the pic:

I'm sure I'll be the solitary vote for a tandem with a trailer.

So how's it going? I'm waiting for my Jeep to get done. I smashed it up. My fault accident. Blah. It's tough not having a car when you're used to that, and this crap Focus rental is... well... crap.

Just a suggestion, whatever you get make sure it has the third row of seats !! You'll appreciate them sooner rather than later.
For the record, my wife loves her Trail Blazer LS with the third seat.

Ah, well Dad talked me out of it. He thinks I need to get used to living on child support/alimony for a while before I go getting into debt. So I'm going to put a car payment in savings for a few months and see how easy (or hard!) it is to live without it. Then we'll proceed.
As ever, Dad is very wise. I really don't want to have to use my equity/401k money from John for anything, ever if possible, so this just makes the most sense. Plus we have no idea that he will hold up his end of the bargain regarding child support/alimony, and while I know I can get that $ through legal channels, I also know that that stuff can take time.
So I guess I'm deciding to be responsible.
dagnabit!!!
Thanks for all the input though!!!

Its really stinky to be wiser and older isn't it ?
Oh how I long for the days of youth, exhuberance and no encumberances !!
Sometimes I wish I could just start yelling TO-GA !! TO-GA !! TO - GA !! Then all the other guys start yelling it, then we have a beer blast...
