Posted: 12/13/05 - 12:09 Post subject: Canadian election: party i hate, but a promise i love...
so we have an election comin' up.. january i think..
anyway, i hate this one party. bad. against a lot of things i believe in.
but he's running a great campaign - and yesterday he floored me.
they proposed a $500 tax break for each child enrolled in sports.
finally.
it was so nice to see someone offer something proactive, instead of talking about how much they were gonna spend on health care.
if the kids start life healthy - they'll be healthier longer. less money is spent on health care as a result.
i can only hope the other parties get behind something like this. i get so tired of hearing them talk about health care, and who f'd up last year in office, and scandal this scandal that.
no one wants to vote because we don't care. start offering me something that matters.
anyhoo. i can't vote for him because he's against gay marriage (and wants to change the law back), and i have fundamental issues with that.
so yeah... here's hoping for something good.

Monday morning quarterbacking and finger-pointing is rampant in politics. I'm with you blue, any politician with actual ideas seems rare these days.

i think my friend is going commi on me... he's non-committal, he figures in around 20 years the economy is gonna crash and it won't matter. i'll play that one by ear.
jrjo - it's so true. and so frustrating. we have a great country and could do great things, why not say "alright you didn't do the best job ever, this is what *we* want to do different/better". that'd be great.

No one wants to vote? Wasn't your lowest turnout something like 60%? Merkuns would kill for that much turnout.
You think it's because they're campaigning through the holidays?

it's because we don't care. all we hear about is the same damn thing over and over again.
we had a bad scandal over the last few years... and it's been this whole "get 'em out of office - they stole/lied/cheated" etc.
as a young voter, i don't care. i care - but of on a list of things that matter in my government, i don't mind if some money got funneled somewhere. it's better then war y'know?
i would like to hear "this is our vision for this great country, this is how we hope to get there".
i can get behind that. these people arent just leading their parties, they lead the COUNTRY, and we don't care. we pick a winner and they get to play their high profile game (it is what it is).
i would love for someone to rally behind. more then anything it would be great if we weren't so apathetic.

we use a pen to mark ours. "make an X on your choice" = simple process...
granted the proper fold technique is hard to learn....

so little time to start a riot... | Nice they've got a guy in the office that has the same initials as his title. Saves on the monogrammed towels and bathrobes.
