on my resignation.
Since my wife is going to take her new job, I'll be resigning here, and then start sending letters of interest to possible employers, and wait for the teaching openings for next year to come up.
But, I can't write the resignation.
I've had a blank Word document open all day. It's just sitting there. Cursor blinking. Nothing written. It's been 5 years, which I know isn't alot to many of you, but it's the longest I've worked anywhere, and the longest we've lived anywhere as a family.
Just can't get going on it. Suggestions?
(Maybe I need a GBB parent to come in and complain about something, that would probably give me the motivation I need.)

Thank them for a good work environment and say due to family obligations you are regretfully resigning your position.

That's like an eternity, dude. How's about this in proper letter format:
| Quote: | Dear El Jefe:
It is with deep regret that I submit this letter of resignation, effective xx/xx/xx. My spouse has accepted a position with a firm which will require us to relocate to an area outside of commuting distance of the THE DISTRICT.
It has been my genuine pleasure to work for THE DISTRICT during these last five years. I have enjoyed working with THE DISTRICT's fine staff of professionals and colleagues, and will miss my associations here. I wish you and THE DISTRICT continued success in all your endeavors.
If I may be of any assistance in the hiring process or training of my replacement, please know that I will gladly make myself available to this effort during the next [however months].
Thank you for allowing me to serve THE DISTRICT. Again, I wish you continued success.
Sincerely,
coachmarkos |
Sure, you may not mean it, but it's eloquent. Make sure not to sign it with KISS MY ASS AS I LEAVE YOU IN THE DUST, FOOLS.

I'll be doing the same thing in May. Right now I can't wait, but it's going to be hard to do. Five years here too.
