....Wal*Mart. I know we aren't supposed to shop there, but blastit I don't have a Target near me, so I am forced to for some things...but anyway...half the parking lot was taken up by RV's! And a bunch of overweight old folks sitting around CAMPING in the parking lot.

Come to find out, Wal*Mart allows RV camping...of course..because the little old folks go to Wal*mart to get what they run out of on the road...

Strange...I think I would pay the campground fee.

Although I do my best to avoid Wally World they really stepped up during our fire crisis. They let evacuees with RVs stay in their parking lot while the city burned down and then started a yellow ribbon campaign in honor of the firefighters and matched each dollar collected. They've donated about $250,000 to fire relief just out of the Kelowna store. Every person that works there that I've met LOVES working there.
Of course, Kelowna is notorious for its low wages so maybe that's a factor.

Actually this is a big controversy in RV circles. Wallyworld is taking away legitimate campground revenue by letting folks park for free in their lots. Of course, it's mainly seniors trying to save a few bucks. Their units have enough tank and electric capacity to go days and days without hookups, so a night here or there is no biggie. If you're just passing through and need a place to park for 8 hours or so, paying $20-$30 for a campground makes the choice easy. And for the most part, Wal*Marts are open 24/7, well lit, level parking spots, lots of space and near the interstates to pop on/off the road.

Funny RV/Wallyworld story.. I read once of a late night gas syphoner trying to get gas out of RV. The owner of the RV had converted his second gas tank into extra "black water" storage. So yep, you guessed it. Unwary thief tried to syphon gas out of said tank... whew did he get a mouthful Shocked
