Sigh...... I would if I could but I live in the midwest and because of work won't be able to make it to the Stampede this year.... I do have some connections and will see if I can get copies 2 or three the day after the Flames wins the cup.

All by itself, if the Flames did nothing more in the post season, THEY HAVE MADE HISTORY - BIG TIME!! Should the Flames go on to win the Stanley Cup (and I have all the faith in the world that they can and will), the stat becomes even more astounding, because then they will have beaten FOUR DIVISION CHAMPIONS IN A ROW!!
Vancouver Canucks - Champions, Northwest Division
Detroit Redwings - Champions, Central Division and President's Trophy winner
San Jose Sharks - Champions, Pacific Division
Tampa Bay Lightning are the Southeast Division Champions
---some other tidbits whenever a team make a change in uniforms the following season then tend to go to the playoffs the same year.
---Acording to an article in the Calgary Hearld there were 53,000 Red Flames jerseys sold since their introduction last october (I bought mine in Calgary last Oct) that's the now the number 1 sold jersery of all time for Calgary (with the exception of the current black alternate "Stampede" flaming horse jersery some of the others were forgetable).

Calgary:
1) We've been there (honeymoon in part was to see the Calgary Stampede).
2) Better looking uniforms.
3) Sorry, hockey is a winter sport. There should be no teams south of a line from about D.C. to St. Louis to Denver, then west.
4) Canada is due a turn with the Cup.
5) Don't know a lot of players on either team, but have heard more of Flames players than Lightning players.

Calgary all the way, baby!!! Canada is LONG overdue for a turn with the cup---I say give it back to the birthplace of ice hockey.
Plus, Calgary is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, and somewhere I'd move to in a heartbeat, so I'm sort of an honorary "homie"
Plus, being a fire sign, that's my natural affinity.
Did I mention Philly sports teams suck azzzzzzz

With the thought of a lockout come September, this is Canada last best hope. Its funny how a nation with it own internal rivals (Ottowa vs Toronto, Calagry vs Vancouver and Edmonton vs everyone else) this is really huge for Canada.
Its no secret that Canada not happy with Gary Bettman has taken Candian teams and relocated them to the USA and with the canadian $$$ forcing teams to pay taxes twice and no wonder the networks are bracing for the lowest rated final it some time........
But I don't care!!!!!!!!
I had to buy the hockey package to watch Flames games this year, and had to put up with seeing the following teams all year on ESPN:
Detroit
Detroit
Colorado
Detroit
Dallas
Detroit
so its fitting justice.......
Besides the Pengrowth Saddle dome is the loudest arena in the NHL...
GO FLAMES GO

Want more proof.......
CALGARY, Alberta(AP) All of Canada has been consumed by Flames, and the national obsession with Calgary's overachieving hockey club is about to spread.
The sixth-seeded Calgary Flames advanced to the Stanley Cup finals Wednesday night, winning the Western Conference finals in six games over the San Jose Sharks. From the 17th Avenue entertainment district to the streets around the Saddledome, fans partied until dawn, which arrives early up north in Alberta.
After missing the playoffs in each of the previous seven seasons, the Flames will open the final round Tuesday in Tampa Bay or Philadelphia. It's not quite a worst-to-first transformation, since Calgary finished 12th in the conference last spring but it's more than the Flames or their fans ever imagined.
"I can honestly say I hoped we'd be here, but I didn't expect it," said Craig Conroy, who centers the Flames' dangerous top line. "It's just more than anybody expected. We're appreciating every moment of this."
Despite the festive atmosphere in the Saddledome after the clinching win, the Flames aren't doing much celebrating yet. Thanks to a charismatic captain, a humble roster and a coach who won't tolerate individual aggrandizement, they haven't lost their focus or their appreciation for their humble roots in this hockey-crazed community.
Just look at captain Jarome Iginla, who stayed late at the Saddledome following Game 6, chatting for two hours with fans after the Flames finished off another opponent of higher regard and higher expectations.
"They don't get enough credit for how great a hockey city this is," said Iginla, who grew up in Edmonton rooting against the Flames. "Easily, easily one of the best in the NHL, if not the best. You look around the league when other teams went through tough times and they were out of the playoffs. We were still getting 14, 15,000 fans."
Game 6 was a celebration of that commitment. The Flames had won just three of their first eight home games in the postseason, but they took an early lead and hung on against San Jose's blistering third-period attack.
Goalie Miikka Kiprusoff, whose arrival in a November trade with the Sharks transformed the season, did most of the work and got most of the credit. But the fans cheered every blocked shot, every save and every iced puck as Calgary clung to its lead.
They cheered when coach Darryl Sutter appeared on the overhead scoreboard, and they cheered when mascot Harvey the Hound banged a drum to start a chant of "Go Flames Go!" When the game ended, the Saddledome shook with noise.
"This is really for the fans," defenseman Steve Montador said. "We know what they've been through up here, and they never let us down."
The city grinds to a halt during playoff games, and everybody in town seems to own something with the flaming "C" logo. Radio stations have written several song parodies honoring the team, and they all seem to be in heavy rotation, rivaling Usher or Maroon 5 on the local airwaves. There's a wildly popular version of 50 Cent's hit "In Da Club" called "In the Dome":
"You can find me in the Dome, chillin' with Jarome/Got my eye on the Cup, baby, we gon' bring it home."
oh yeah.....for those that need their fix....

I don't think I need to say who I'm pulling for!!!!
It's been absolutely nuts here guys! There were over 30.000 people packing 17th Ave (or now known as the "Red Mile") when Calgary took San Jose out! It's more a feeling of Mardi Gras then anything else....complete with women showing their wares. There's actually a website with a ton of photos of these gals...I don''t know the address...flamesgirls or something like that.
I've been working down there the nights they have been winning and I've never had so many janglies waved at me in my life! The mood here is incredible and 1989 doesn't even compare to it. Everyone is talking hockey. I was leaving my house this afternoon to go to work and I could here our nextdoor neighbours 12 year old daughter practising piano....she was practising this piece of music. http://www.coolcanuckaward.ca/hockey_night_in_canada.htm
Wish you guys were here!

Being a huge Red Wing fan (yes still bummed out) and hockey fan, I am looking forward to the finals, I think both teams match up well. Plus its a nice change (even though it hurts me) not to have Detroit, New Jersey or Colorado in the finals.
Thankful living in Michigan that I am able to watch Hockey NIght in Canada on CBC, no one does it better.
Scorch the only question I have for you is, Sure Calgary is loud now as you say, but historically its usually one of the more quiet barns in the league, care to elaborate on that??

Trekay, I can answer that question for you. Calgary is still a young city...everyone here comes from somewhere else. Not unusual to to see more TO jerseys when Calgary plays against them. That's why it's quiet. Give it some time...perhaps now...and they'll have a loyal fan base.
