I burned myself pretty bad Saturday night on a casserole dish. I burned a small rectangle of skin off my hand with a light burn surrounding the area. It is extraordinarily painful and it's just a very small area and I feel like a total wuss.

I know two people who have had severe burns on at least 1/2 their body. I have so much more admiration for them than they could ever know. I would not be able to handle that much pain.

The summer LC was with child, we went out to visit LC's parents. While there, I changed a tire on our car wearing a pair of cut-offs and nothing else. The temperature was only around 70, but it was very dry.

I wound up with second-degree burns on all of my back, from neck to waist. All blisters. It was the most physically painful thing I ever experienced. Fortunately, LC's mom was a nurse and was able to get the proper treatment for me.

(corrected by a from the wife to get the correct summer)

Yikes, to both of your stories.

On a similar note: Yesterday they re-ran a Tom Brokaw interview of the guy that got stuck in a canyon and cut off his own arm. I mean...yikes. I can't even imagine - I cry when I get a paper cut.

That's the show they let our 7th graders view and the one that made Libby pass out. She's like her mother. We don't even have to get hurt to be wusses. Embarassed

For instance, Will had a loose tooth yesterday, so I pulled it (it was way loose and hurting Will when he tried to eat anything). Ugh, the blood... the cord didn't come out (it's a cord? That's what Will said it was) so it bled for quite some time. Poor kid was lying on my bed in pain, and I was lying on my bed ready to pass out.

Hope the pain goes away quickly, Jenn.

And G, I did the same thing one summer, only it was from my neck down to where my swimsuit began (chest)... I was peeling, but being only 15 didn't get the whole "new skin" thing and all of my new skin blistered. It was awful. An entire back... yipes!
