If gas prices are the same at all the dealers in your area, do you have a brand that you prefer? Do you have a brand that you'll stay away from?

If gas prices vary by just a couple of cents, is there one you would go to even though it's higher?

Or do you just go where the product is cheap?

Unless a station's been nailed for screwing around with the product (i.e., watering down the gas), I'll go to the cheapest. And here, with different tax rates in each county, there's a difference on one side of the street from the other.

First choice is cheapest, which is an Exxon station. But if I'm not on that side of town, I usually hit the circle K by my house which is a couple cents more per gallon, but very convenient. I'm boycotting Chevron/Texaco.

In a straight ten mile stretch of road between here and Yosemite the price varied by .23

That seems like a lot of variance to me.

With the number of taxing bodies in government (and bad as it is here, it's got to be nuts out there), that range really doesn't surprise me.

If the cheapest gas is out of your normal driving "pattern", you might want to see how much you're spending in time and extra gasoline to save that $1.25 (assuming the gas is $0.05/gal cheaper and assuming you have a 25 gallon tank.)

I buy gas at the place that is closest to me when I need it.

i get discounted gas if i buy it at the grocery store chain's gas station so i've been going there for most of the fill ups. i spend so much money on food and have a decent MPG that i consistently get 50 to 80 cents off per gallon every time i fill it. the trick is to drive the car till it's beyond E so you truly get a discounted full tank.
