My main concern with the free weights is that I'm very clumsy and I fear losing a toe due to dropping it on my foot. My husband agrees this is a real concern.

Free weights and steel-toed boots would still be cheaper than a Bowflex.

The only comment I wanted to make was definately go for the free weights. I currently use the Firm system, which uses a step-like thing and free weights. They show you the exercises so you can work on proper form and they are fun. Just my 2 cents.
