My mother sends me the oddest things. Last year, for my birthday, she sent me a large box full of throw pillows. And this year, for Easter, I get 6 cans of tuna.

dunno

My grandmother is as eccentric as they come. Christmas and birthday gifts are always a surprise.

Last Christmas I got a "no smoking" sign.

For my birthday last year, she gave me some exceptionally valuable stock shares. This year, I got a set of wooden spoons.

I'm expecting gold bullion this Christmas. Or maybe a block of goat cheese.

In high school, we got a refrigerator box, filled it with styro peanuts, wrapped it all nice and fancy, and gave it to a friend.

The present inside was a tennis ball.

My Aunt (She's called Crazy Aunt Nancy by most of us) gives some odd items as well. Most recent: she put a bunch of things together for Michael for his bday - some t-shirts, a hat, some hot wheels...and a can of SPAM. Um...

I got a crown of thorns once for my birthday. It was spray painted gold.

I still don't know what I was supposed to do with it. It made me very uncomfortable to have it.

Um, Embarassed no. It got "lost" in our last move. I was very disappointed when that happened....

I'm fascinated by this choice of gift. Do you have any idea why this person found it to be appropriate?

I'll tell you what I know about the gift giver:

They are very fundamentalist/religious.
They are of the opinion that I am not a good parent (they have told me this to my face)

They are a bit whacked.

I sincerely believe it was more a message for salvation of my soul, for a message to elicit my penance than as a nic-nac or wall hanging. I am still stumped.
