The alligators in lake Placid are small, they can only take off a limb!

Koby the alligators only bite fast swimmers. So as long as you aren't in the lead pack you'll be fine. Good for you for signing up for next year. You'll have a great time!

I believe though that if I start training in August, I will be in great shape for the race next July.

Hey Koby... just curious what kind of training plan you're going with. Aren't most Ironman plans something like swim 10k per week, bike 200-mi per week and run 50-mi per week. 20-hour weeks if you're going to race it... you're a cray man. Surprised

With some persuasion from Elkid and taking some time to think about it, I have officially decided to train for an Ironman next summer. The race, Lake Placid.

Shocked

It must be somethin in the RR water......

Good luck on the training......

If enough RR people are in this, MW and I just might have to come up and watch.

You didn't see my thread last week about the bad day. My truck's transmission died last week. Due to the cost of repairs, I'm having to wave off IMLP next year. If money is better later this year, I may try to sign up for one of the other Ironmans.

As far as training, I'm still going to train as if I was doing it. I'm planning on 60mi running weeks. Probably something like the 200mi bike weeks. I'm not sure about the swimming yet. I need to get into a pool and start practicing.

You bet your butt you are - I'm counting on you being one of my virtual training partners! 60M run, 200M bike, 5-6M swim at its peak sounds good.
