Question on bike tires.

As you know, I got my LeMond Etape for Xmas and have been riding around for a while now. Lately it seems every time I go out I get a flat.

I've got the extra tube and a patch kit but I have a question:

Is there such a thing as "puncture resistant" tires ? Not puncture proof but resistant (heavier gauge) than my current ones. If so, can you direct me to a brand/model ? A web site would be good also.

Thanks.

A few brands make tough tires for training, commuting, and touring. Continental Ultra Gatorskin is one.

I've also had good luck with the Specialized Armadillo tires, though they were a PITA to mount due to the stiff casings (I had to use my old-school metal tire levers).

You can also get tire liners (thin puncture-resistant strips that go between the tire and tube); I've used these on road bikes in the past to keep the weight gain to a minimum.
