I know buying a bike of Ebay isn't the best thing in the world to do but I can't say I will absolutely stick with the whole triathlon program as I have with running. Therefore, I want to purchase a good, used bike until I know for sure this is what I want to do and then I'll think about spending my life savings ( ) on a good bike!
What do you bikers think about this bike listed on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=7298&item=3686168793#ShippingPayment
Note: I am 5'5 1/2" tall. The guy at the bike shop said I would probably be a 52 or 54 cm and this bike is 51 cm. How much difference will that really make?
Also note - I only have one day to make this particular decision!

That's the same tri bike that marathonrnr262 and I both have. I can guarantee that the first thing you'll want to do is change out the saddle. Worst saddle EVER!
Other than that, nice bike.

I'd recommend a road bike for your first/only bike. They're typically a little more comfy and easier to handle in traffic.

It came with a saddle? I htought it was the pole that hurt that much after my first ride. Hmmm...
that bike will not sell for less than $1000. it hasn't met the reserve yet, but everybody is waiting for the last second to bid in. The components alone are worth about $800.
I second what PH said about a road bike for your first. The geometry is easier to get used to and you can always go aero on it.

I was thinking the same thing. It's got a good set of components on it. It will probably still be a good deal, whatever it maxes out at.

I just reread your post. I am 5'6" and I ride a 49cm. Tribikes are usually a size or 2 smaller than a road bike. You will not be comfy on that bike.

Thanks for all your info! I didn't realize I'd have to get a smaller bike for a tri bike!
I knew you guys would help me out!
