A running related question.. keeping overall body size and training equal, if a competitor has sizeably longer feet than me, he'll cover an inch more of road with each stride, no? So in the end, through a 5-mile race, if I ran exactly as many strides, I would be close to 100' back.
Do bigger feet give you a running advantage?

Not so if you consider where the centerline of each leg would come into contact with the pavement as your measuring point. If stride lengths are the same, same amount of distance would be covered no matter the size of the feet.

The guy with bigger feet will have proportionally more weight in his feet and shoes. It all balances out in the end.

Bigger feet would cause more friction, no? Less lift. I see it as a wash.

I think I get the 'centerline' idea, but if you take into account where the 'roll' part of the stride, would that still hold if a longer foot rolls foward on a longer shoe that little bit more of distance?

Still, I think it's stride. I guy with tiny feet, but a hella long stride would beat out a big footed guy.
P.S. I'se got some canoes, and they never helped me a bit.

My theory is that there is just a more prolonged time of contact between foot and pavement but no additional distance. I may be full of crap too because I'm just trying to stay upright in my chair for another 35 minutes.

Who's that walkin' round here, Mercy
Sounds like baby patter, baby elephant patter thats what I calls it
Say up in Harlem at a table for two
There were four of us,
me, your big feet and you
From your ankles up, I'd say you sure look sweet
From there down there's just too much feet
Yes, your feets too big
Don't want ya, cause ya feets too big
Can't use ya, cause ya feets too big
I really hate ya, cause ya feets too big
Where did ya get em
Your girl she likes you, she thinks you're nice
Got what it takes to be in paradise
She likes your face
She likes your figure
Man oh man those things are too big
Your feets too big
Don't want cha, cause ya feets too big
Mad at you, cause your feets too big
I hate you, cause your feets too big
Oh your pedal extremities are colossal
To me you look just like a fossil
Got me walkin', talkin' and squawkin''
Cause your feets too big
Yeah, Come on and walk that thing
Oh I've never heard of such walkin', Mercy
Your pedal extremities really are obnoxious...
one never knows do one
*thank you Fats Waller*

What if they have a tattoes? Will the weight of the ink slow them down vs. a non-tattoed runner?

Persons with bigger feet have more to trip over. I know this from experience.

You know what they say about a guy with big feet and big hands, right?
They wear big shoes and big gloves, silly.

I would think the length of their stride as a result of their overall height would be the advantage. i.e. Use less steps to go the same distance as a shorter person.
