...and if he'd underdressed and had a heart attack, then how would the spin of his clothing decision be?
I vote non-story.

Hes not going to have a heart attack from sitting in the cold. And you can dress pretty warmly wearing a wool overcoat and some nice long undies.

holy crap he dressed warm. So what.
If he wore a London Fog or Brooks Brothers people would be all over him about the extravagance.
Who cares. People are really reaching if that is the best they have against the administration

That IS pretty sad. Now if he wore a jacket with a swastika on it, then I'd see making a fuss about it. He doesn't live there, he's not used to the weather like they are. Sheesh.

When I saw this "headline" on my homepage, I chuckled and thought someone would post this here.
Not entirely appropriate for the event, but hardly worth a headline.

wether you think the media is biased and making a big deal outta nothing or that no offense was meant, I do not think you can stop from recognizing this as an obvious mistake. The article explains it thoroughly especially in comparing Cheney's dress here to that of the inaugural.
Symbolism is substantive when it comes to memorials. Cheney was there in his official capacity as the envoy of the President of the United States, there in the name of our country. He failed to represent us well.
With that having been said, those boots really complete his ensemble

I think the author could have thought of a better comparison given the subject matter.

And if he was not there we would have gotten crap too.
I think his presence representing the US is more important than his attire.

Would you have worn something like that to a funeral?

Presence mean more than appearance.
And yes I would.

I see quite a few parkas at funerals this time of year.
Frankly, this is the first time I've ever heard of talk about funeral coat attire. You'd think people suddenly took Hollywood fashion police seriously.

To each his own???
I guess he's comfortable with wearing whatever it takes to be warm and comfortable. I really don't care what he wore to an outdoor event as such. I guess I'd be more anal about it for myself if I had a job of his stature.
I cannot believe this made the news.
