Posted: 02/04/03 - 15:21 Post subject: Big Interview Tomorrow
I am meeting with the CEO of my wife's company at 2, tomorrow. I am interviewing for an operations job there for a pretty nice salary bump and my own office.
I have a few things going for me:
The COO is my wifes Uncle
The CEO (who is new) comes from one town away from were I grew up, and apparently his cousin was on my H.S. wrestling team. I haven't gotten the name yet, so I don't know who it is, but it was probably one of my friends.
The position is out of my realm of experience, but apparently they want an educated bright guy (me? ) to take over for the last guy who got booted for conflict of interest.
It would be good for now because I would commute to work (10 minutes) with my wife everyday, but not work with her.
Wish me luck!

I had thought I told you, but I guess I hadn't.
I had to put it on the back-burner. The salary cut was more than my family can afford, and besides, they are actually discussing layoffs at NYPD.
I am on the list for the PAPD and Suffolk PD , which both offer living wages in NY (about double or more the NYPD).
It really sucks, because I wanted to be NYPD, but at $34K per year, it is not possible to pay rent, daycare, and eat in NYC. 10 years ago it would have been do-able, but at this point in my life, I can't

Oh, but that is the beauty, we wouldn't even be in the same building, but across the street from each other, and in totally different worlds. Our paths would not cross unless we wanted them to
I drive her to work every morning now, so it would save me the additional 30 minutes I have to drive now!

Best of luck on that interview, Monk. I've worked with Mr. Go and have worked in the same place as Mr. Go and I really liked commuting with him. 30 minutes of Raffi-free time with spouse is nice.

Different buildings might be ok. We work in the same building. We work in different areas but he can come in here and bug me whenever he wants.
