Vioxx pulled from market
I was never convinced that this stuff did anything better than advil or aleve anyway....but i know that there are an awful lot of runners out there that swear by it...i'll guess they'll have to find something else...

me, nothing. i try and avoid medication at all costs...though while marathon training, i'd take an aleve or two after a particularly hard workout...just thought that this story would be of general interest to the running community...
(now if they had a pill that would make my perpetually achy/pf ridden feet feel better)...

I took it and it did nothing for me, but get me sores in my mouth. I agree, I prefer to avoid medications at all costs.

Merck should come out of this okay. Vioxx only accounted for 11% of Merck's revenue's for 2003, and 12% of its EPS,
Merck also has a new drugs under development.
(source Barron's 10/04/2004)
I'd go long on Merck. They are a strong company and have the financial means to offset any loss of sales for the pulling of Vioxx from the market. In fact at $33.31 its a pretty good deal

OMG!!!! You may have just answered my on-going question as to why there is this sore in my mouth!!!!!!!!!!! I have had it for months now and the doctors say it isn't cancerous or anything. BUT, I have been taking Vioxx (for the arthritis in my knee)! I have noticed lately that the sore is getting smaller (since Vioxx was pulled from the market). OMG!!!
BTW, Vioxx really helped me with my knee. The new meds I have don't work as well.
