Websites of local running clubs can be a great resource. They usually have a list of upcoming races whether they are participating as an official run or not.
If your local running store has a website, often you can find races through there as well.

The local running store web site has most of the local races. I used CR to find the race in Baton Rouge over Thanksgiving.
