Best:
- in the north suburbs, driving Sheridan Road in the fall.
- no lack of food to suit your tastes.
- downtown between Michigan Avenue and the lake.
- great variety of venues for concerts (all sorts of music, just about, except country) and the arts.
Worst:
- the parochialism - as in Chicago is God's gift to mankind, and if you don't love us, you're an ass-pony.
- driving - expressways are not that, and lights are timed so you either run twenty greens or are stopped at twenty reds (almost always the latter).
- the whole patronage system.
- they will come after you if you live in the 'burbs but work in the City. If they can tow your car while parked in a legal zone, or ticket you for a cart you no longer have title to, they will (both of these have happend to me).
- and I don't know which would be worse. Having your plane crash coming into town for a weekend, or having it crash after actually having had to spend a weekend.
The worst could go on for a long, long time. But I will stop here.

The only time Chicago ever sounded like a band that wasn't playing a bat mitzvah or wedding reception was the track "Free Form Guitar" on their first album. If only for the maniacal laugh of Terry Kath in the middle of it.
For you Little Leaguers out there, TK was the original guitarist who "accidentally" killed himself playing Russian Roulette. Hence their tribute song to him, "Baby, What A Big Surprise."

Back to Chicago, Frank's kind of town, it has a fantastic marathon if you are into that kind of thing.
