This just in from RealBeer News:
GEORGIANS (LIKELY) TO ENJOY MORE BEER CHOICES
The multi-year efforts of Georgians for World Class Beer to legalize the sale
of beer stronger than 6% alcohol by volume moved within a signature of
completion on Thursday when the Georgia Senate gave final passage to a
measure that redefines beer. The bill will become law if Gov. Sonny Perdue
signs it. Derrick Dickey, a spokesman for Perdue, said "unless a bill is part
of the governor's agenda we're not going to give comment on signage until the
appropriate time." If the governor does not sign the measure, but does not
veto it, then it becomes law after the end of the legislative session. The
new law will allow beer up to 14% abv to be sold, including both stronger
imports from European countries (most notably Belgium) and many U.S. craft
beers - beer already legal in 38 states and the District of Columbia.
