I have a daughter, and I hope she is into sports, and I will support her (maybe a female wrester!) Yes women sports have prospered, but I would not give all the credit to Title IX, a lot has to do with the changing times.
As a person directly affected by a Title IX decision, I am hoping that it is reworked to protect mens sports as well. My college wrestling program at Manhattan College(a successful one, too) was scrapped and Title IX quotas was the undenied reason. Amateur Wrestling programs across the country have been decimated by Title IX.
Here is a Link to a rather timely article on the whole thing:

A very competetive wrestling team from CSU-Pueblo was cut in the same way. Even when the team came up with private funding for their program, the school still nixed them.

Please keep in mind as you read further that I have a daughter. And I hope and pray that one day she has the athletic ability her mom and I enjoyed as teenagers. But more than that I want her to learn that goals are achieved through hard work and fairness to others. Entitlements and quotas are as about as UN-American and Fidel Castro. And the kind of rational it takes to justify quota programs like Title IX, affirmative action, open border policy, universal healthcare and a socialistic tax system will not be tolerated in my house.
Title IX is a huge mistake. There have been interviews with Olympic level male athletes who no longer have a university program in their sport because of it.
It's sorta like communism....looks good on paper but it NEVER works. It ASSUMES, no matter the male to female ratio, that AS MANY women desire to compete in sports as much as men. But we all know that isn't the case. So because the female pool of athletes is so much smaller we cut the men's clubs to "make things fair".
Look it's been said before, it's another case of bleeding heart, guilt ridden liberalism run amok. It's the same reason we have 13 million illegal immigrants pouring over our borders every year. And this is AFTER 9-11.
Nobody has the walnuts to just stand up and say, "Look, if you want to play football or field hockey or backgammon, fine. But go find the number of interested and talented females needed to be competitive. Don't expect us to end all funding to money making men's clubs just because 1 or 2 of you don't have the strength to play linebacker and help bring in 95% of this school's athletic revenue.
It all comes down to fairness. Life isn't fair. I'll never be 140 lbs. again or be able to run the 40 in 4.6 seconds. So I find other ways to get ahead and work everyday to be a better person. I don't expect others to hand it to me.
