'Scuse me, sorry Rando, you've violated Statute 14 section 2 part 1.7: There shall be no Shania references.

Where to start, where to start...
Elkid, thanks for the clarification on pg 2. And for the other good posts on pg. 2/3. And you're right about Title IX being a good thing, except for when used as an excuse for deleting certain sports.
Cheryl, if the high school receives federal monies, then yes, Title IX applies. And, if I'm not mistaken, most if not all high schools in this country receive some kind of federal money.
Joe, your gripe shouldn't be with Title IX the law, but rather with the administrators at the university (most of them white males) who have decided to follow the easiest path for keeping their federal dollars.
It is much easier to just get rid of sports than it is to follow the rules and regulations of that specific law.
And one more thing. Those of you boys who are complaining about the injustices of Title IX, write them down and put them away for a couple of years. Then when your daughters are involved in Dad's Club soccer or basketball, etc., take them out and realize that your girls wouldn't have that chance if it weren't for Title IX. Because I sure didn't.

It is still the law though I have the beef with the Law because if forces the administration of the schools to comply with Federal Laws and the FG holds the money over the schools head.
I do agree with you it is mostly about the easy money coming in.

OK I think (and I admittadely skimmed most of this 6 page thread) that while Title IX is admirable in its goals, it is lacking in its execution. I have a daughter, and I hope she is into sports, and I will support her (maybe a female wrester!) Yes women sports have prospered, but I would not give all the credit to Title IX, a lot has to do with the changing times.
As a person directly affected by a Title IX decision, I am hoping that it is reworked to protect mens sports as well. My college wrestling program at Manhattan College(a successful one, too) was scrapped and Title IX quotas was the undenied reason. Amateur Wrestling programs across the country have been decimated by Title IX.
Here is a Link to a rather timely article on the whole thing:
