My checkbook is finally balanced!!!!!! No big deal to some of you, especially you spreadsheet types. But to me, this is a big deal! I'll bet it's been years since my checkbook actually matches my bank statement or the online account statement.
*maybe I should celebrate by spending some money and forgetting to write it in my check register.
EDIT: Nearly 1 week later, and still balanced! Just 2 more days until payday #1, followed quickly by payday#2 on Friday.

Congrats...contrary to my current spreadsheeting lifestyle, I actually spent about a year in college unbalanced. When I realized the (in hindsight HUGE) error that was causing the situation, I ran out and got Quicken and haven't looked back (or been unbalanced) since.

That's what online banking is for to me. I don't have the followthrough it takes to stay up on a check book.

Mine hasn't been balanced in years. As long as it's within $100 of the on-line balance (in the black) then I'm happy.

when I was still with the wife, it was impossible to keep track of it I've had my own checking account for about 9 months, but lost track of a few things as I moved out, then didn't have internet access, etc. I kept a close eye on it, but wasn't able to ever match it up to what the bank said. I finally got it there last week and decided to watch it after my last deposits a few days ago. It finally worked out!

Are you my husband?
This drives me insane...which is one of the reasons we maintain separate accounts.

It just isn't that big of a deal to me unless I'm getting overdraft charges. I don't think I'm your hubby.

I don't even attempt to match the checkbook with bank statements. That would be enough to drive me batty. When ever I make deposits I never add the cents into my checkbook. Hopefully after years of doing this I have a few dollars more than what I think I do. Just in case.

We use Microsoft Money©. Once a week I go online and check the weeks transactions then update the checkbook with all the lovely brides debit card purchases that she forgot to put in.
Balancing our checkbook takes about 5 minutes.

My inner bean-counter's blood pressure is sky-rocketing from even thinking about not having my checkbook tied to the penny every single day.

due to past offenses, I now keep a very close watch on the mrs. account, and try to monitor her balance.
I always know how much I have, within about 20 bucks or so.
