Posted: 11/08/03 - 20:47 Post subject: BCBS Fall Festival 5K and 1 mile fun run results
Well I had a decent race today. It was definitely the smallest race I have done. Total racers was maybe 50.
I went out in Mile 1 in 6:03
Mile 2: 6:37
Finish: 7:31
Total: 20.11
Well the course was supposed to be a 5K but the front runners thought it might be a little short. It was hot and humid this morning. The Pace Truck took off on the leaders (including me) and they finally realized they had to slow down. I felt good going through mile 1 and I just worked at trying to hang with the 2 guys in front of me. At about mile 2 one of the guys I run with came up and motored right past me. He has had an outstanding fall training season for our December Marathon. After I passed mile 2 I still felt pretty good so I was trying to close the gap on the other guy in front of me. Finally getting close to the end I tried to pick it up to catch the guy in front of me but I just didn't have enough.
I did end up in 4TH overall and 2ndin my age group!!! I missed first by about 10 seconds.
Then I took Jason on his first 1 mile fun run. He seemed to enjoy it. He did get kind of tired during the middle part but I just told him to walk whenever he had to. For the last 100 or so he did start running again and Chris thinks she got a good picture of him. Once the film gets developed I will post them and let you know. Jason ended up at about 10:15, not bad for a 4 year old!

Sounds like a great race, for both you and Jason. I'm glad you all had such a great time. Congrats on your great finish.

yeah it was a PR. I forgot add that tag line to the end.
I was actually very ecstatic with my race. It is about time I had a good 3 mile race in any kind of heat.

I was trying to set everyone up but I got distracted by the kids as I typed up the summary! That is why where it says 4th place overall and 2nd in my age group I made small. My attempt at humor failed miserably! Oh well maybe next time.

what? A 4 yr old runs a 10 min mile? That's amazing....
and you're pretty fast for a middle aged recreational runner! (I hope you know where that joke comes from)
