Dancer and I raced in the Ashland Tri yesterday, finally the sun was shining in Massachusetts, making for a more enjoyable day. Race was 1 mile swim, 26 mile bike, and 6 mile run.

Overall, good day for me, beat my time from last year by 20 minutes (had a real bad race last year), and I guess all this ironman training is paying off.

Swim was great, so nervous before the start, trying my best not to throw up!!! Last year I completely freaked on this swim, started out with my wave, got hit, got kicked, but held my own and got into the swim of things pretty quick, overall felt great on the swim, definitely one of my better race swims, time was 27:35 and beat my time by 10 minutes from last year. Finished 188th out of 422 in the swim.

transition from swim to bike is tough in this event, you have to run up a very steep paved 1/4 mile hill in the wet suit to your bike, off on the bike I went, overall, the bike was a little diappointing with the feeling that the entire race was passing me. The course is very hilly and I just kept pushing, finished with a time of 1:26 which includes both my transition times, overall I think my bike time was around 1:21, had the 231th fastest time out of 422 on the bike.

So happy to get off the bike and get running (definitely my best event), hit the run and immediately started to pass many in front of me. The run course as well is hilly, but felt strong and stayed focus. Finished the run with a time of 42:33.

Overall finished with a time of 2:36, which put me in 159th place out of 422 overall, and 27th in my age group out of 54.

Again beating my last year time by 20 minutes was so great, swimming well rocked, running strong felt great, but that damn bike, need to get out there more and work on that.

Of course Dancer PR'd as well, there is just no stopping her lately, she looked so strong, and just ripped apart her time from last year as well, I am sure she will share her adventure as well.

Excellent race and I to your achievement! I don't think I could evah do one of these (unless they let you wear 'floaties' in the water)...

WAY TO GO, HAPPY!!

My water wings work just fine!!!

Actually wearing a wetsuit makes you quite bouyant in the water and much faster compared to when you do not wear one!!
