My wife says that I am an obsessive cyclist. I take pride in being a “biking fanatic“. There is something special about riding only cyclists understand. I usually feel fine after long ride. However, I have been experiencing irregular heart beat lately. Since my father died from a heart attack, I am worried. What do you think about arrhythmia in cyclists?

You should go and see your doctor. He will tell you if this requires an examination by the cardiologist. Irregular heart beats can be a result of inadequate magnesium intake. Three minerals are essential to the muscle contraction; magnesium, calcium and potassium. Your heart is a muscle so if any of those three minerals are not present in sufficient quantities or their ratio is out of balance you may experience muscle cramps, insomnia and arrhythmia. But, the final verdict will be made by your cardiologist.
