As one of those other chosen, I gotta tell you I'm real uncomfortable with the whole notion. I am not beholden to any type of bible, so none of that is authoritative to me so please don't anybody quote it to me b/c it's a waste of time.
I just think, to quote my friend Kelt, my god is a very big god, and either all of us are chosen or none of us are. We're all his children to be loved eternally, even when we err. So any kind of attempt at the insiderness that being "chosen" means is the work of man, not god, and should be questioned and examined and analyzed before being believed.

And it's all well and good that you have chosen Him. But according to the Calvinist and a few others, the more important question is has He chosen You.
What are you going to do if when you die you're standing at the Pearly Gates, the big entrance book is read through and you hear "We're sorry, you're name is not among the Chosen. We only had one choice today and GaReb got here first."

I have had the same discussion with many friends over the years. Here is a good website for those who are interested in knowing a little more:

This website does a good job at laying out the differences between Calvinism and Arminianism. I personally have more of an Arminian belief.
