Posted: 10/24/04 - 08:49 Post subject: Are there different kinds of USB ports?
What I mean is, the new motherboard has USB 2.0. I'm looking at getting a couple of those usb sticks, the kind that hold up to 2GB of info and they're plug & play, super tiny things they are. I'm wondering though, since those are USB 2.0, will it work on the current computer (that is a dog and is 3 years old). Or does it matter? Would the transfer rate be the only issue on an older USB port? I only want to use it to save a few things (docs, pics) off the old hard drive before we disassemble Johnny 5, then I will use it strictly on the laptop and new computer.
And how do I find this out? I looked at device manager saw the USB stuff (I have 4 ports total on the case) but couldn't tell which version I have. I'm almost sure they're not 2.0 but I'd like to know how to find the info.
TIA!
