Posted: 03/22/06 - 02:40 Post subject: Aquarium pictures...
Finally managed to take some pictures of my current aquarium...The cloudy green water from the algal bloom has finally cleared up on its own. The plants floating around are due to some of the fishes' digging activities. Fish are doing great- the new group of 5 rosy neon barbs (the orange/red fish) are adding lots of life and colour to the aquarium.
Overall view:
Rosy Barbs and the YoYo loach (the fish with the black and white patterning):
The harlequin rasbora group (the small fish among the plants)
The current "ringer" of the aquarium- Charles the Bold (he's a red-lipped loach). Likes to chase the barbs and pair up/play tag with the Yoyo. Always the first one to be at the surface during feeding time and likes to be handfed. He has been known to "nestle" between my fingers (and bite them too) while feeding frozen bloodworms.
Other fish not photographed- red flame tetra, 3 otocinclus (midget sucker catfish) and 2 Upside-down Catfish (one small, one big)

Looks pretty good. I am fighting an algae bloom in my tank also. It sucks. I can't get it to clear up. I might need to move my tank.

That reminds me, I gotta work on organizing my tackle box to get ready for open water now that ice fishing is over.

i love the loach he looks cool and to nestle like that too....way cool. | It disappeared in a matter of a few days...It was pretty simple actually...all I did was add a few more new plants (java ferns and vallis), and CO2 water (to increase dissolved CO2 levels for the plants). I also did a 40% water change last week (though I always do weekly water changes). I guess the increased number of plants (enriched by elevated CO2 levels) outcompeted the algae for nutrients.
