I have got quite the urge to do this and I have spent most of this morning shopping around on the internet. I was just curious if any of you had any experience with this?
I would be using it mostly on lakes.

I went kayaking for the first time about 2 weeks ago. Friends of ours have a 2 person kayak, and you sit on top, not down in a well. We were out on a lake and it was fun. They bought their kayak used...if I remember correctly it was ~$150.
This probably has no value to you, just thought I'd share.

You can always rent first.
I went kayaking in Florida this April. Up the intercostal, thru mangrove tunnels and saw feeding dolphins

did it once and loved it. When the kids get older I will be getting a kayak to do some ocean kayaking.
LL Bean is likely where I will get it from.

i dropped one on my big toe last summer. dont ever do that; it hurts like heck.
afterward, i went on the water in it. it was a lot of fun. we were in the ocean, and i was worried about getting swept out into open water, but it was fairly easy to maneuver even for someone as small as me (5 ft tall and 115lbs)
