I watch the whole 2.5 hours. It was a moving service.

Even though I am not Roman Catholic, I am still interested in the historical aspect of the whole thing.

I understand more than 2 billion people in the world watched it.

It was pretty cool seeing people of all religions there.

I found it morbid and discusting.

People have become obsessed with the death of a single person. Our lives have become a death watch. Who will die next and what did they die from?

The Pope may have done/said some great things in life, but could he really have touched all those people personally, or are they just bandwagoning?

Personally, I am glad the man has finally been buried. The world can now move on to more important topics. Like is Brittany pregnant, or did Mike touch little boys. you know, the things we all care about.

The mans death was sad, but he was 84 years old.

I think a lot of people in this world felt he made an impact on their lives and he was apparently quite a charismatic guy, as far as popes go.

But I'm just tired of hearing about it.

One small point: if one is buried in the grotto underneath the basilica, is that really being "buried?" Same question for a mausoleum. Seems like if you're not in the dirt, it's not an actual burial.

I mean absolutely no disrespect when I say this, but the pageantry of it all made me a little giddy. I think this is partially because my church practices its faith so differently from what I saw this morning.

I've come to realize that JPII was a pretty amazing person. Makes me wish that I had taken more notice of his actions before now.

No actual burials in S. LA then.

2 billion people watched the funeral? I think that's a highly exaggerated number. Maybe 1 billion.

Nope, I didn't watch it. LIke others, I'm getting a little tired of the spectacle. Yeah, he did some good things, but he also did some not so great things and I certainly don't feel a great sense of personal loss or need to mourn him.

One thing I read in today's paper was that he was going to be put into the tomb previously occupied by John XXIII, the great Liberal Pope, mover behind Vatican II and other church modernizations.

Anyone know what's going to happen to J23s remains? Going to a better spot under the Basillica, or is he just being shunted away to a less popular spot?

J XXIII is on display in a glass case in St. Peter's Basilica

No, it's correct. It was broadcast live thru the Vatican cable network. Millions saw it world wide on...

I watched a little bit of it, when I was riding on the trainer.

I got so disgusted with the commentators yaking the whole time that I turned it off. Mad

That did make it feel a little like a sporting event didn't it. One commentator on the broadcast I watched actually used the term "Pope Fever" in a serious sentence. I'm not Catholic and I found this a little crass or least extremely ineloquent.
