They are everywhere down here! I think that it is all of the storms. I just woke up with two fire ants crawling (not biting, yet, luckily, as I am allergic) on my leg, in bed.

We keep getting these flying ants that sting and look like small wasps at the resort. I am afraid to sleep.

Anyone else in hurricane areas getting wierd bug infestations?

If mosquitoes the size of small birds count, then yes, we are having some odd insects.

The bookstore has been having a large amount of bugs lately, but that's probably because it's a shoddy building with plenty of holes, and the company is too cheap to spray.

I had some fire ants in my house, but I put down some ant killer. They're bad in the yard, but mostly because I've let the grass grow untamed for quite a while. On the patio they're somewhat bad, but I just let them bite me. I've grown pretty immune to them.

Well, we have the yard sprayed once a month, but apparently they are out of control. The resort is full of them, despite our pest control peeps and apparently there ARE flying, stinging ants. We had to comp one night of a family's stay because there were flying ants everywhere. And believe me, this place is not some fleabag, it's picture perfect. Here's a link.

I worry because I am highly allergic to bee/wasp/insect stings, and carry little epi-pens wherever I go. That's right, two, in case there is an accident on the highway and I can't get to the hospital and the stupid epi-pen #1 wears off.

Sheldon, we also have lots of mosquitos.

Mech, I'm surpised you guys don't have major bug problems from the storms. Interesting how it varies from area to area. I think Florida is just a big insect state.?
