I got to the point where it said it occurred in West Virginia, and didn't bother to read any further

I can't believe this was a port a pottie. This was probaly their main facility.
**I can say this because I am speaking from a position of authority. Although all the relatives I have visited, they seemed to have working flushing toilets.*** Except for Grandma, but that was way back in 1976...**

Triage nurse in WVA? I bet they've seen it all....gun shot wounds, deer gouging wounds, gun shot wounds, dog bites, animal bites, car accidents due to deer strikes, gun shot wounds, gun shot wounds due to Saturday night beer joint specials....wait I am seeing a pattern here.
True story. Kind of funny. My newlywed husband and I (14 years ago) are in WVA visiting my relatives. We are at my Aunt's place, where I have not been in maybe 10 years. It's almost dusk, mid August. The deer are literally meandering by my aunt's property. This means they are walking off the mountain to feed in my Aunt's garden. My aunt is swearing and mumbling at them. She has a permit to shoot the deer as "critters and or nuisance" since they are going into her garden."
(My husband does not hear this conversation).
So my Aunt disapears into her trailer, comes out with the shot gun, disappears out back and we hear the shotgun! Yep, one deer down.
My husband is appalled. He thinks we are now poaching. My Aunt asks if we want the deer and the husband says "no" (thinking it's illegal..it's August! not exactly deer season here!) My Cousin is now p*ssed because she's now going to spend half the night canning deer meat, w hich is not what she was planning to do.
Once I explained things to the husband, back on the road, he thought it was kind of funny.
There was a reason WV, a pure Democratic state, did not vote for Al Gore in the last election. Much of which had to do with gun regulations and then environmental issues.

Yet another reason why running and smoking don't mix. Huge races would be life threatening with all the methane lingering in all those biffies.. whoa.

My thoughts exactly. Has this been verified ? Could it be another WV "Urban" legend ? What exactly was this guy smoking ?

Sounds all too true. A friend of LC is married to a doctor who at one time was connected to the Chicago Cubs, I think, as being on-call at Wrigley Field for the fans. The stories of things he encountered at the ball park make this story pretty tame. For some reason, people losing a battle between their dentures and nachos topped the list, with, um, insertions not that far, um behind.
