our principal just disrupted our classes to say that the fire dept will be here this afternoon at 2pm to conduct a surprise fire drill.

Someone should email the definition of surprise to him. And, someone should tell him that the purpose of this sort of drill (for me at least) is to see how well you react when, in fact, surprised.

The city fathers of Lancaster PA once passed an ordinance that citizens had give two day's advance notice of any accidental trash fires.
