Hi, new to the board and pretty new to running.

When I was young I used to cross country run and loved it. That being oh, 15 years ago or so and 130lbs lighter.

Sep 02, I weighed 209lbs - at 5'0" that is a lot of weight. Currently I weigh 162lbs and still decreasing and now...running! Or should I say jogging for how slow I am? LOL

I started a couple of months ago, but really didn't make much progress of a few minutes here or there on the treadmill but in the last month I've done some pushing. I have a goal to run in the CIBC Run for the Cure in October right before my 32nd birthday.

Currently I run on a treadmill and I'm pretty slow I think. I can do 2.35miless - 2.50miles in about 32-33 minutes and some of that is walking for example yesterdays 32min on the treadmill went as follows:
3w/27r/2w = 2.50miles, 32min
Today:
3w/15r/2w/6r/2w/3r/2w = 2.35miles, 33min

I used to run at 4.5mph and I slowly started increasing it (this week) and now I am at about 4.7mph. I'm coming along, and feeling accomplished, like I used to when I would run cross country races.

Well that's about it. Sorry I babble, I have a chatterbox gene; it goes way, way back Razz

No, that is not slow. Nothing wrong with that time. It can improve, but as it stands it is JUST FINE! No worries! Smile

Of course, if you ran cross-country, no matter how long ago, you're no Newbie. You've just been away from the game for a bit. Very Happy People who have run X-C are part of a special group. If you had the mental wherewithal to do it then, you still have it; it's just been resting (and not like Month Python's dead parrot).

As you can see, you'll get lots of support here.

Thanks everyone!

I ran 2.1miles straight (no stopping, which is a big thing for me) at 26min last week. I was so proud of myself. Now I'm hunting for a good 5k training program as I need to concentrate on bettering the time and adding another mile to that for a run I want to do in October Smile

I'm having fun!
