Posted: 04/06/06 - 00:30 Post subject: An old friend of mine has a court hearing tomorrow...
his mom is putting out calls for letters of reference to try and get him into a rehab program, to stem the other charges he is facing.
the vast majority of the charges are assualt related - mostly resulting from my friend being excessively drunk and getting in fights with bouncers, while on probation from another charge.
i've grown apart from him over the past few years (post high school) pretty much to escape his behavior (and that of some other friends that don't seem to want to grow up).
but, i have to acknowledge that (dealing some drugs aside), almost *all* of his problems seem to be coming from his alcohol and aggression issues.
i really don't know what to do. he's looking at 4 years in jail (23 years old).
part of me wants him to take the fall so that he'll realize that he can't get away with everything he's always gotten away with... lord knows i made choices to keep myself out of situations like this.
part of me can't see an old friend go away for four years when i know he's capable of so much more...
*sigh* anyway. i'm going to write an honest letter about his drinking and what not. i can't vouch for anything else. i really can't.
what a mess...
