I have just begun looking into scientology. It's interesting. |
You'd really like the book then, cuz he talks a lot about how the Baptist used to be and laments about the political changes after the Carter years and the forming of the Moral Majority during Reagan's time.......I was thinking about you as I read that part.....

I might have to go out an get it. I'm looking for a end of the summer book.
I was just thinking about his thread last night and wondering if any of the Christians here besides rtpd were going to answer the question as to whether or not Christ would condone torture? It seems like a simple yes or no question.

How about a post swap? You post a run report and I'll post a reply in this thread.

Well, you already posted in this thread, twice. You just haven't addressed the topic. Which, by the way, isn't my running. (why are you so interested in hearing about my running, anyway? You going to offer me some tips?)

The faith aspect is NOT THE ISSUE here.
the issues that was posited is: Do you think its OK to torture people ? Or is it only "evil" when non Christians do it ?

And yes, I do think that someone who says they follow Christ's teaching and yet condones torture is being hypocritical. Whether that's you or not, I really have no idea.

Even though CB won't post a running post, I'll post a torture reply. No, it's not okay for torture, Christian or non-Christian. If our country has done it, I'm ashamed of it. We're better than that.
And no, I won't waggle a finger of hypocrisy at Christians that might believe otherwise. A belief system is a complicated and personal thing. If someone else can make it fit together in their mind, that's a reconciliation they've done for themselves and I've no right to get indignant about it.

CB doesn't have to post a running post, and certainly not on this forum.

We struck a deal... pretty cool, eh?
Of course she didn't have to, but credibility on a running site comes from being a runner, donchathink????
It's like my fav Hubert Humphrey quote "The right to be heard does not include the right to be taken seriously". And at a running site, you want to add a smidgen of being taken serious, add some running posts to the site. Believe you me, it goes a long way when there's at least ONE level of understanding/commonality with someone else.

Doesn't seem like you struck a deal. Seems like you put up an obstacle to keep yourself from having to address something you don't want to. And no, I don't think credibility on this particular forum has jack to do with being a runner.

Sorry jrjo, but I agree with your opposition. There is no more validity or pull to an idea of a runner or a non-runner. You're not jumping at all the people in RR who don't run yet post, why in on-topic?
Judge the idea by the idea alone.

Your picking at my running doesn't have jack sh!t to do with crediability jrjo. There are plenty of people here at runningforums that don't post about running, yet you never harp on them. It has everything to do with you wanting to turn a topic of conversation you find unpleasant and trying to take down someone you don't like down a peg.
As I've said before, if PH wants to set ratios about running vs. non-running posts, I'll be glad to oblige. But until then, please remember that you don't own this site and you don't make the rules. You're as much of a nobody here as I am, and it is not up to you to dictate who posts what. Deal with it.
