Airehead inspired me. This should be a weekly thread to grill, i mean inquire politely, all you ever wanted to know about a persons profession.
i volunteer to go first.

How clean are Tim Horton's restaurants "behind the scenes". All the ones I have been to are immaculate and spotless out front. Are they just as nice in the kitchen areas?

with the exception of the days that the stock comes in ....
during the bake it's hopping all the time, but when the bakers are done, the place is spotless.
floors scraped, washed, all that jazz. quite shiny.

How many donuts do you guys stock throughout the day? Must be an incredible amount! Do you bake throughout the day or only at certain times?

There's a Krispy Kreme nearby I go to occasionally. (We don't have Tim Horton's in Georgia.)
One of the girls working there has warned me not to get the Chocolate cake doughnuts. She won't tell me why, although I heed her warning....
Is there anything at Tim Horton's we should worry about?
Oh, and be careful how you word it. It might be libelous.

there is the night bake, and the day bake.
the night bake is baked at night (the graveyard shift) for the purpose of using during the day. the day bake is baked during the day, and is used for the purpose of the remainder of the day/evening.
often times an extra baker will come in to fill a special order.
fondants (the icing) are topped throughout the day as needed. the product shelf life is slim to none. all night bake is removed from the shelves by 2pm.
and no. we don't "do day olds".
oh as for an approximate number? there are days when at 9 am the night bake has almost all been used up. so, it's quite insane to say the least.

i once served coffee that was 5 minutes past it's time lol. otherwise?
not a damn thing. honestly on the rare occasion if you order soup before 11am it might still be leftover from the night before (which is perfectly safe and healthy) but if it looks funky we won't serve it anyways. we're quite big on the always fresh slogan.

y'know we've never figured it out.
Apple Fritters, Boston Cream and Cruellers are quite popular...
strangely no one seems to actually order a chocolate dip, but are quite content to get one in an assorted dozen.
the kids love the vanilla dip with rainbow sprinkles.
the adults usually get the Fritter.
the old folks usually get the old fashion plain or sugar.
the people that order the sour cream, walnut crunch, and whatnot are the ones that usually finicky about the specific kind of donut...

This exact thought hit me recently. I started ordering that flavor. I find it's one of the all time best!! Especially with a cup of cold cold milk!!!

ooh. Scary~I was thinking that exact same question this morning!
(Ok, so it's more scary that I'm dwelling on a thread about donuts, but that's for another thread therapist to deal with! )
