well, sort of knew. Teresa works in one of the departments at the college, just down the hall from JM. Nice lady with two cute little boys, ages 4 & 2. I know I've met the 4yo, but don't think I've met the 2yo.
Well, yesterday, they were abducted from her parent's home by their father, evidently at knifepoint.
This morning I had learne that the alert had been called off, citing that the whereabouts of all 3 had been ascertained. That was all the info I had.
JM tells me today that the rest of the story is that the father killed the 4yo and both slit the throat and stabbed several times the 2yo, but it looks as though he may pull through. The father stabbed himself as well, but apparently did not hurt himself too badly.
Please keep Teresa an her family in your thoughts as they endure a hell that I cannot even begin to imagine.

I read that today. I am so sorry for her. She had apparently filed a restraining order. He was high on several things.
That poor woman. My heart breaks for her.

When I heard about the alert yesterday, I wondered if you or your kids knew them.
That stinks. I hope the mother is staying somewhat strong. Her 2yo is going to need it.

No idea how she is holding up, but I'd be huddled in a corner, crying my eyes out for days before I could get it together. I'd just be so sad, 2 other kids to raise or not. I know you go on, but I don't think you ever truly recover. Especially when it happens like this. How much guilt they must all be feeling -- even if unfounded. That's what parents do, I think. I know I do. Hell, Will has a sunburn, and even though I sunscreened him, I feel horrible. This that Teresa has to deal with ... unimaginable.
The college is being very mum on the subject, saying only that Colin looks to be faring well at Riley hospital, and that they will announce funeral arrangements when they know. JM and I will attend. He knew her very well. I knew her mostly in passing through the hall. Very friendly gal.
Sad stuff. So sad.

My brother had 2 children killed in a car accident. One lived but has many disabilities because of his injuries. Unfortunately my brother has never gone on or gotten over it. That lady is going to need a lot of help.

I am sorry for the lady and her children. I just cannot fathom how a parent can bring themselves to harm their own child or any other child.
