I'm a little concerned that its "family" and that it will be lame, but I'm tuning in anyway!

I mean, not that Amazing Race puts a lot on scandal factor or things that are inapprorpriate for kids, but I imagine the kids will slow things down, maybe be whiny, you can't "sneak" onto a flight with four people, etc. But I hope thats not the case this time, or that they continue their excellent editing that makes it so good even on races that aren't close.

There were only two families with younger kids. All the other families had grown kids or kids that appeared to be high school age or higher.

Indeed. But my concern with the children was this: how will they affect the outcome of any of the competitions? Meaning, what kind of tests will be devised which allow and/or require the children to make a true contribution to the success (or failure) of the team?
As was seen last night, the children weren't much of a factor. Of course, that's just my opinion. But it didn't appear as if the two Black kids did much in the way of helping when they were paddling on the Delaware River. And the two kids in the great Amish Buggy push/pull...really, now. Who did the work there? Sure, the kids helped but...
And as for the Linz tribe not following the Blacks on that final leg...good call. Maybe they can get their act together. If not, they might make an early exit. (Oh, by the way, they're from Anderson Township, Ohio, not Cincinnati and yes, I realize that Anderson Township is in Hamilton County...but it's not IN Cincinnati, hence the township status.)
And now that I'm rollin'...let me put it to you! Are the newspapers and television news reports out there similar to those in the Cincinnati area?
That is to say this: when something positive happens in the Cincinnati area, that event or those people are referred to as locals or Cincinnati area residents. Now, when the news is negative, there's no mention of Cincinnati. Should the Linz clan crash and burn, they'll be referred to as the Linz clan, from Anderson Township. Should they win, they'll be from Cincinnati.
Is this thing widespread, common?

I also don't care to see parents screaming at the kids the whole time. Hopefully I'll be surprised and they won't.

Me too. But in last night's episode, it was the kids who were yelling at their mom (the Jersey family). Granted the mom is a bit annoying but her boys didn't need to tell her "shut up!" nearly every single time she said something. I wanted to throw hammers at those boys.

I was so disappointed that A) the Black family had to leave, those boys were precious!! and B) that the Paolo family stayed I can't handle those ingrate boys and Bronx mom much longer...
I think this will still be a great season despite the larger teams. I like the varying teams, ie Father and sons in law, 4 siblings, etc. The Linz family is one of my favorites. I also like the dad and 3 girls. Not real down with Dad, Stepmom and 2 kids, dad seems like an @$$. The family with the youngest kids is growing on me.
Are they going international or just around the country? If they only stay domestic it won't be as fun...but I could also see logistics being tougher internationally with the larger teams.
Also MSparks, Cincinnati is lucky, here in TX publicity works in reverse. Take Waco for example. Every non Texan associates David Koresh, which the compound was a 90 minute drive from Waco, but it was "Waco" in the news. Where GWB vacations is a stones throw from Waco, literally down the street. But it, a positive no matter your opinions on the President, however, is called CRAWFORD. Texas Cheerleading murdering mom? "Houston" but she was actually in Channelview. Dentist who ran over her husband? "Houston" although it was either Webster or Clear Lake City, I'm not even sure. Etc. etc. etc.

Only one family remaining has younger kids. The Black family had problems with the river crossing and it cost them in the end. They had really good attitudes about everything, it was sad to see them go. The Linz Family (3 brothers, 1 sister) was too funny, they are my favorites so far.
I could be wrong, but I think this entire season stays in the US.

The Black family gets awards for attitude, they were great. I was dying laughing when the tiny boy went to get the water and fell on his face and was like "Daaaadd! I need some help here....Daaaaadd!" and he was picked up by the back of his pants...
I could see them staying in the US, but the remaining family with kids said something to the effect of "We've travelled a lot internationally, that should give us an advantage..."
