amazing race 6 episode 1 "The Game's A Foot"
Iceland was awsome last night the views, the water, the ice and the fog.
As a recap here's the players in the order they finished.
1.Hayden & Aaron are both models and are trying to pursue acting careers in Los Angeles. They feel that THE AMAZING RACE will bring them closer together as a couple and maybe help take their relationship to the next level.
2. Kris and Jon are dating long-distance between Long Beach, California and Scottsdale, Arizona, respectively. They met in Scottsdale on Kris' 30th birthday, when Jon was tending bar at the club where she was celebrating. They've been passionately in love ever since, but his career (he is part owner of the club) and her responsibilities at school have kept them in a long-distance relationship.
3. Lena & Kristy are sisters who grew up in Utah. In the Fall, Kristy will be starting her last year of college at University of Utah. She is the single mother of an eight-year-old daughter, Madison. She recently took a few months off from school to move to Denmark with her daughter.
Lena is a student and former striptease aerobics instructor. She also put college on hold so she could travel abroad, but is planning to return to school after the Race. She describes herself as outgoing, happy and competitive.
4. Freddy & Kendra are an engaged couple from Miami, Florida. They met over two years ago when they were booked together on a modeling job. At the time, Kendra lived in New York City, but six weeks later, she moved back to Miami, and they've been together ever since.
5. Jonathan & Victoria were set up on a blind date seven years ago, and have been married for three years. They reside in Los Angeles, where Jonathan is an entrepreneur who owns a spa as well as other business ventures, and Victoria is a model/ pop artist painter. They decided to go on the Race in hopes of getting their relationship back on track after many grueling discussions about starting a family that have taken a toll on their marriage.
6.Lori & Bolo reside in the small country town of Molino, Florida and have been together for eight years. Bolo is a professional wrestler and Lori is a barrel horse racer.
Throughout the years, Lori spent time watching Bolo train for wrestling and decided that she could also do it and jumped in the ring. Although she has worked as a professional wrestler, she is now concentrating on horse racing and hopes to compete in professional rodeos in the near future. Bolo describes his wife as a mix between Jennifer Aniston and professional wrestler Chyna.
7.Adam & Rebecca are an ex-couple that met at a spinning class. Rebecca's first impression of Adam was that he was gay, but after he pursued her for months, he proved otherwise. Both of them are spinning teachers/personal trainers.
8. Meredith & Maria are friends and roommates from Queens, New York. They met on the last day of classes freshman year at Boston University, when Meredith found Maria's ID on the floor of a bar. At first, Maria gave Meredith attitude about having her ID, but the two of them ended up living next door to each other the following year and became great friends
9. Don & Mary Jean have been married for 20 years and live in Portola Valley, California. Between them they have six children and 16 grandchildren, all from previous marriages. They met almost 27 years ago through mutual friends while they were both married to other people. Donald is a physician, and Mary Jean is an interior designer.
10. Gus & Hera are a father and daughter from and Gaithersburg, Maryland and Los Angeles, California, respectively. Gus is a former CIA agent, covert operative and the first person to fly an open-cockpit plane to the North Pole. Hera is a special education teacher and holds a Masters degree in special education with a cross-cultural emphasis.
Eliminated (Good Riddance)
11. Avi & Joe were born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. They met 17 years ago in a high school Spanish class. Joe moved to Los Angeles six years ago to expand his advertising business, while Avi is still in Brooklyn and teaching at the same high school where they met.

First Reactions.
After my recent travel to Europe I can see why other countries feel that Americans as a whole are........................................@ssholes & Pric*s.
After see the exploits of Jonathan & Victoria and the abusive nature of his treating her and his acting an ass in one of the most beautiful countries, and the boat driver reaction to "these" americans made me want to hurl.
Seeing Adam (Hellboy) & Rebecca at the gas station was a hoot after she put regular gas in the tank instead of "diesel".
Lori & Bolo I like them the Alpha Female & alpha male part of the group and we know who wears the pants in that relationship
But most of my hate and then glee went to Avi & Joe (more Joe) for the comments about people in general, the racers, and just their general snide comments. so it was fitting after the comments they made about Meredith & Maria being from Queens, and the troubles they had in the beginning of the race. it was refreshing to see them finish and the look on Joe's face when they got Philimated.................was priceless.

I liked the Brooklyn boys. That female pro wrestler Lori has got to go - what an obnoxious loser. Even her own husband called her a "redneck loudmouth". She couldn't stop blaming him, even on the podium at the end. LOSER. I got a kick out of the grandparents scaling the ice wall.
What a great show. I so want to do this!

We could do this together. My hubby and I would kill eachother if we did it together.
I had to turn the TV off at 10 and missed alot. But my first impression is I don't really care for anyone. I will grow to like some of the peeps. I think the male wrestler is funny. Complaining about a calf cramp when all he was doing was walking around Chicago.

Great show! Even after watching all 2 hours, I don't really have a sense who everyone is, which is fine. I'll figure it out in a couple weeks when more eliminations start kicking in.
One thing that I've noticed so far is that I don't like anybody yet, except maybe Hellboy. The wrestlers are entertaining, though, so they can stick around for a while yet.
I don't think that the grandparents or the father/daughter team will last long at all.

If your a fan of the show and get a chance to compete you need the following:
1. A guide book of the area you are going to.
2. Airline scheludes of all the domestic flights and especially American Airlines since they are one of the sponsors of the Amazing race.
Hayden & Aaron did their homework like Colin & Christy and had a map and guide book with them as a clue to their destination or task.
For you trivia buffs this episode was filmed (the Chicago start leaving O'Hare airport). On Friday Aug 13 (hence the refrence to the hurricane) and the delay from Boston.

[/rude] I do like them, they seem to be among the more functional couples

They are hard to watch....

Unfortunately I don't think the grandparents or Father/Daughter are going to make it very far.
I like several of the groups okay, but there isn't that Bowling moms or Chip and Kim team I'm cheering for yet. But I can be patient.

First time I've ever watched the Race. Interesting show. Looks like I've found another program for my TiVo.
I don't know what was funnier. Seeing Lori & Bolo and Jonathan & Victoria fight or reading some of the text descriptions of some of the partners.

The show grows on you and the producers do a great job of building the suspence.
Last night was another example as they show the last two teams heading towards the parking lot at the Blue Lagoon and the trademark mad rush to the finish mat not knowing but hoping it was not the Brooklyn Geeks and happy to see it was the father daughter team.
later this week we should vote to see who will be elimated next.
