Oh no, no, no babe...
The only thing you accomplish when you let a little girl get what ever she wants....is a grown woman that expects it. A man's worst nightmare...unless you are rich.
It's not doing her any favors. End of story.

We all love our kids, but face it, they can drive us nuts...
My instinct would be to give her the beater bike and say "Here's how your getting to work." If she eats crow and rides to job1 and then job2 without complaint, then I would do the drop off and pick up. If she unloads on you...she rides the bike or walks both ways. Time to grow up and have some personal accountability.
Hey... I had to walk a mile to the bus stop...up hill...both ways. Ask MW, she's seen the road.
It's called tough love. |
did they have bicycles when you were a kid?

UPDATE :: I found out yesterday that I had misunderstood the driving arrangements. Mrs. PH is driving even more than I thought.
1) driving her to job 1
2) picking her up from job 1 and bringing her home
3) driving her to job 2
4) picking her up from job 2 and bringing her home
I had originally thought that Mrs. was just driving her from job 1 to job 2. That probably adds another 15 miles or so to the driving.
I told Mrs. PH last night that as of Monday, daughter will be responsible for her own transportation from job 1 to job 2; whether it be bike, taxi, friend or foot, she's on her own.

Great job. I really believe we don't do our kids any favors when we take on the world for them.

i like how the official clinical viewpoint comes after the patient has already come up with a good idea on their own (just sayin').
anyway PH i didn't get a ride to work after i was 14, unless it was pouring and the bus was completely inconvenient or electrical storm or something (re: they were doing me a huge favor).
a good friend of mine doesn't have her license yet and the b/f drives her to work a lot. i really don't have any patience for that. people need to be able to be responsible for themselves.
