Is running a half at 9000 feet a lot harder than at 1000 feet? Should I expect to fall apart? Haven't trained that high but have done lots of hill work. Race is Aug 4.

It will be tougher. Just how much, I don't know, but your lungs will have to increase their intake with the thin air which could really throw you off. Good luck!

I can't comment specifically about running at a higher altitude, but I know when I went from Atlanta (800 ft. above sea level) to Vail, CO to go skiing, the first day and a half, I was pretty light headed. I'd get to the race city as early in the week as possible to get acclimated to the thinner air.
Good luck on your race!
